IBPS CWE Clerk Examination New Pattern 2015 - Syllabus, Cut Off, Interview Marks

IBPS Clerk CWE 2015 Exam Pattern, Syllabus, Cut Off, Interview Marks: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has finally released the much awaited recruitment of Common Written Examination for the Clerical cadre in the participating banks of IBPS. This is really a good opportunity for the aspirants who have desire to work in the Government banking sector. The Process of Common written exam of IBPS will be Preliminary exam, Main exam, Common Interview and Provisional Allotment for the recruitment of Clerical cadre.


The online examination of IBPS will be held in two phases i.e. Preliminary exam and Main exam.

Preliminary Examination: The preliminary online examination will be of 100 marks having 100 questions which are to be attempted within 1 hour.

English Language : 30 Questions / 30 marks
Numerical Ability : 35 Questions / 35 marks
Reasoning Ability : 35 Questions / 35 marks

Main Examination: The Main online examination will be of 200 marks having 200 questions which are to be attempted within 2 hours.

Reasoning – 40 Questions / 40 marks
English Language - 40 Questions / 40 marks
Quantitative Aptitude - 40 Questions / 40 marks
General Awareness (with special reference to banking industry) - 40 Questions / 40 marks
Computer Knowledge - 40 Questions / 40 marks

The online Preliminary exam and Main exam will be conducted bilingually except the English language section. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong attempt. A Candidate has to qualify all the sections individually as well as total marks obtained together in all the sections should be more than the cut-off to clear the Preliminary exam and then only they are called for Main exam and after that interview of the candidates who had successfully qualified the Main exam. The marks obtained in the main examination will be considered for shortlisting the candidates for interview and also for final merit listing.


Reasoning: Verbal and Non verbal reasoning viz. Number series, Coding-Decoding, Analogy, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Calendar problems, Sitting arrangement, Ranking test, Visualization, statement and assumptions, Venn diagram, Input-Output, Decision making, Logical reasoning etc.
English Language: Synonyms and Antonyms, Comprehension, Cloze test, Word arrangement, sentence arrangement, Fill in the blanks, Error correction, One word substitution, Idioms and phrases ,word meanings etc.
Numerical Ability/Quantitative Aptitude: Simplification, Average, Percentage, Time and work, Time and Distance, Profit and loss, Simple interest and Compound interest, Problem on ages, Data interpretation, Data sufficiency, Quadratic equation etc.
General Awareness: Current affairs (National & International), Major financial and economic news, important days, Awards and honors, Books and authors, Sports, Abbreviations, Scientific aspects, Special emphasis on banking awareness and many more daily updates.
Computer Knowledge: Basics of computer, shortcut keys, Input, Output, Internet, MS Office (MS word, MS excel, MS Power Point), Computer architecture, Computer abbreviations etc.

Candidates who are willing to grab this opportunity to work in the IBPS participating organizations need to focus on all the sections equally and devote equal time to all the sections of the online test by daily practicing in order to ensure their name in the final merit list. 


The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates in both the preliminary and main in different sessions will be normalized using equi-percentile method.
Scores up to 2 decimal point shall be assessed for the calculations
Mean – 3/4th of Standard Deviation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/EXS categories
Mean – 1/4th of Standard Deviation for General Category


The candidates called for interview (100 marks) on the basis of their online main exam will be assessed for their educational qualification knowledge, Hobbies, Banking awareness and all the other areas of interest. After that, Provisional allotment will be done.
