Let’s discuss each and every section in detail

English Language: This section will have at least 1 comprehension passage as well as questions from spotting errors, Para jumbles, cloze test and fillers. To do well in this section you need to go through daily an English newspaper to improve your language skills. We have seen that mostly all students never give proper time for this section. But this section requires lot of attention. This year English section is even more important as it can be deciding factor for qualifying to the next stage. As this section can be attempted in less time hence those who have good command over English Language will perform better and will also be able to score high marks in less time.

Reasoning Ability: This section will have minimum 2 puzzles, with questions on Syllogisms, Direction Sense, Coding Decoding, Inequalities and with other questions. This tests your mental aptitude and skills in attempting the questions. If practiced properly, this can be the scoring one. To attempt good in this section, you need to have a plan for attempting this section and you will be in a state to plan by practicing a lot. So, maximum practice is needed to score well. Try to understand the concepts of questions that will increase your speed as well and accuracy level will also increase.

Numerical Ability: This is the section which is the most time consuming one in the exam. We are expecting minimum two DI and rest questions from arithmetic topics. The approach should be different for this section. You have to choose easy questions first and then go for the tough ones. Don’t go for all the questions as you have sectional cut-off to clear. Manage your time accordingly. We have witnessed this year that the level of questions of Numerical Ability section was a bit high in the IBPS RRB PO Exam so prepare well for this section.

General awareness: General awareness plays an important role to score in the exam. Candidates who are up to date about facts & news about daily affairs via newspaper or Television can really score well in this section. Candidates are advised to read daily newspaper to sharpen their knowledge and also maintain their knowledge related to banking and financial sector. Don’t answer the questions on which you are not sure as there is negative marking for every wrong attempt.

Computer Knowledge: In this section 20 questions are asked which are generally very easy and questions ask on operations which a person’s generally done on computers and candidates can easily score good marks.

Since not much time has left for the examination hence you should study as much as you can. We would suggest you to devote time towards General Awareness and Computer section also as there would not be much time for the mains. Time devoted for subjects in total for both studying and practice should be = 10 hours / day

English Language – 2 hours
Numerical Ability – 2 hours
Reasoning Ability – 2 hours
General Awareness and Computer – 2 hours
Practice and focus on increasing speed – 2 hours

Tips to reduce negative marking in IBPS:

As there are 0.25 marks negative marking in the exam so aspirants should consider these points to avoid negative marking.
  • Take chance only for those questions in which you are sure for answer.
  • Avoid guessing as it may reduce your all over score via negative marking.
  • Read carefully the questions and then only answer them.
  • Improve speed and be focused.

Tricks & Shortcut methods: The key to success in any competitive exam is to look for tricks and methods to solve questions in a short span. This would allow the candidates to attempt more questions in less time.

Determine Sectional weight-age: Not everyone is perfect in all the areas of study. Therefore you must identify your strengths and weaknesses and then accordingly you can plan for the exam.

Time management with Speed: In exam all you have to manage you time properly as you can’t waste time in a single question as sectional cut-off is there.

Do the Mock Test: the most important plus point of giving mock test is that it will help you to make an exam plan which you can follow, as from attempting the mocks you all can analyze which section to attempt first and how much time you have to devote in each and every section. Also, find the silly mistakes you make and figure out how you made them so you don’t do it again.
