How to Prepare for Current Affairs - For Competitive Examination

Students frequently ask me how to prepare for current affairs for exams such as Bank PO, SSC, UPSC, IBPS ExamsRailways, Interviews and other competitive examinations.

Current Affairs preparation is very important for competitive exams. Particularly in exams such as Bank PO, SBI PO, Insurance exams, the current affairs questions are being asked frequently. In SSC and UPSC exams also current affairs are an integral part of the General Awareness paper however in SSC and UPSC number of current affairs questions are less.
Current affairs are also very important for your interviews as in interviews questions are asked frequently on current affairs.
Therefore it is obvious that preparation of current affairs is very important if you are preparing for competitive exams. The best way to prepare for the current affairs is the regular reading of the news paper and noting down the important points.
One should also read the monthly magazines such as Competition Success Review, Pratiyogita Darpan, Banking Services Chronicle etc.

Quite often students ask that how many months current affairs should be prepared for competitive exams. There is no set norms however based on the experience it can be safely said that current affairs of the last six months before the date of the exams should be prepared.
In competitive exams such as Bank Probationary Officer in-depth preparation is required. Apart from knowing about the event you should have through knowledge of the important current affairs topics which will help you both in your written exam as well as in your interview.
For best preparation of the current affairs you should study on a regular basis and should have a habit of preparing notes from newspaper and competitive exams books which I have mentioned above. Every day you should devote some time towards revision of the same.
In such way you can build your knowledge of current affairs. Discussions with friends and colleagues also help a lot in preparation of current affairs.
If you can follow the methods which I have told you will be able to solve more than 90% of the current affairs questions appearing in competitive exams.
